Gesture Recognition with an FMCW Radar

This paper presents a Dynamic Hand-Gesture Recognition (HGR) demo using a millimeter-Wave 140 GHz Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar. An event-driven architecture is proposed to enable real-time inference, where we used a Convolutional Long Short-term Memory (CLSTM) model for gesture recognition.


Habib-ur-Rehman Khalid received the bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from The University of Lahore (UoL), Pakistan, in 2013, and the master’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL), Belgium, in 2018. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in engineering sciences with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in collaboration with the Interuniversitair Micro-Elektronica Centrum (IMEC).
