EV CHARGING OPTIMISER: Optimising charging schedules of Electric Vehicles through Reinforcement Learning
Electric Vehicles (EVs) offer a major opportunity to deal with the volatility of renewable energy, avoiding energy waste and stabilizing the energy grid. Likewise, shifting EV charging loads to more favourable periods allows to reduce the energy bill significantly. This is why VUB and Energis develop an efficient and viable way to charge an entire fleet of EVs in a coordinated, controlled and robust way using Reinforcement Learning.
Arno is a PhD student at the Artificial Intelligence Lab of the VUB. He studies reinforcement learning and how it can be used to efficiently charge electric vehicles.
